Do you own a Shopify store and looking for a way to improve its traffic? In this post, I am going to show you simple ways to increase Shopify site traffic.
Having a Shopify store doesn’t mean that people will start buying your stuff without you spending time and money on the marketing. Just like the real world, if you want to grow your business you have to spend money and time. Find out what works great for your brand then improve upon that. It is possible that some of those strategies won’t work because of poor execution but I’m sure you will find out the best strategy from one of the methods I am about to share with you.
7 Highly Effective Ways to Increase Shopify Traffic
1. Increase Shopify Traffic with SEO
This is the simplest and free way to get traffic to your store. SEO is one of the most important marketing methods that you should always invest your money or time because it converts really well compared to social and digital advertising.
How are you going to optimize your Shopify store for search engines? The simplest way is to optimize your page titles and meta tags. Here’s how you can optimize them.
Go to Google Keyword Planner and search for important keywords. For example, if you’re selling a leather belt on your store you can type out keywords such as cheap leather belt, premium leather belt, brown leather belt, belt for women, belt for men, etc…
Keyword research is the most important part of Shopify store SEO. If you use generic keywords, your page will compete with giants in your niche.
It will give you a lot of ideas for the keywords that you can use inside your page, meta title, and page title.
After that, you should think of smart ways to get backlinks to your website. Backlinks are considered as a vote by search engines and it will help how you rank in the search results.
2. Use Facebook Ads
A quick way to boost traffic and sales to your Shopify store is Facebook Ads. Unlike SEO, it gives you results as soon as you start an ad campaign.
There are multiple ways you can run ads such as you can install Facebook Pixel on your store then when people visit your website and left your site, they will see your ad on Facebook as soon as they log in to their Facebook account.
Or you can set up an ad to target a pre-defined audience. This method will cost you more money because you might be not sure who is your target audience exactly. You might have to run A/B tests to check which ad and audience perform the best.
Tips to optimize your Facebook Ads
- Keep in mind that as much as you optimize your ad to show to a very specific audience, it will likely convert better.
- Detailed Targeting is very important. This is where we get to really hone in on our ideal customer using interests and behaviors.
- Don’t target more than one interest group per audience. Mixing interest groups makes it difficult to analyze your results later.
- Install Facebook Pixel on your Shopify store, if you haven’t already. It will help you target warm leads into customers.
3. Try Google Ads
Google Ad network is the largest online advertising network. You can show your Ads on Google Maps, YouTube, Google Search, Google Display Network (third-party blogs and websites), or mobile ads.
There are countless ways you can advertise your business with Google Ads.

4. Promote Your Store with Influencer Marketing
There are countless bloggers, vloggers, YouTubers, or Instagrammers in every field.
Brands can use influencer marketing to collaborate with a relevant online influencer, tapping into both their creativity and engaged audience to build brand awareness in an authentic and organic way.
It's not much different from when a friend recommends a holiday destination. You appreciate their recommendation because you trust their judgment. Influencer marketing works the same way, allowing you to target an audience of like-minded people that follow an influencer they trust.
Once you’ve found the influencers you want to work with you’ll need to reach out to them and agree on a collaboration structure.
5. Content Marketing — Content is King
Every small business should focus on content marketing, that’s what I tell my SEO clients when they ask me how they can boost organic traffic further. They are almost unaware of how content marketing can be a powerful tool to promote a business.
Content marketing is a process of sharing information online through different materials and mediums. In simple terms: Content marketing is all about helping people. It’s up to you how you leverage this medium or use different marketing channels to promote your business online.
Let’s talk about the audience. Most blogs don’t have a very clear idea of who their target audience is, and who could be interested in investing their money in the product you are offering. So, it is quite an important part of content marketing. Find/research your target audience. Create a buyer persona in your mind or on a piece of paper. It will help you easily come to a conclusion.
When you find out your target audience, you should start creating useful content but wait! Content without strategy is not a good practice. So, you need to develop an effective content marketing strategy.
6. Write Guest Blogs
Before getting started, it's crucial that you have something of quality online to offer. This could be a blog, an eCommerce business, or a site for your consulting services. It doesn't need to be expansive, but it does need to be high-quality material that showcases your writing abilities.
You want to identify guest posting opportunities on sites that:
Target the specific audience you want to reach.
Have a significant amount of traffic and/or authority.
Once you have a list of websites, you should start following them, get in touch with them through commenting on their blog, retweet or interact on social media platforms.
Once you established a relationship then pitch your blog post idea to them through email.
7. Try Video Marketing
Video content is easier to consume for users than text. Most of the brands are shifting towards video marketing in their marketing mix.
It costs more but gives better results in terms of brand recognition and faces behind a brand. For example, if you own a clothing brand then you can add a video where you explain how to buy products from your store, who is your staff, and what kind of products do you sell.
Of course, you can do video marketing on various platforms and in a lot of creative ways. It is not always important that you talk about your brand, a good content marketing strategy always tackles the problems of an average consumer. Finding out what problems consumers face then create content on those particular topics.
You can also try video ads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
